Simha Sakranti Individual Puja August 16 2020
Simha Sankranti is a day dedicated to the Sun - Surya Devata - and Vishnu Avatar - Narasimha. People offer prayers on this special day In the Lunar or Vedic Calendar to obtain their blessing. During Simha Sankranti it is believed that one should not take any critical decision as it is the day on which the Sun enters the house of Simha Rashi or Leo. Simha Sankranti is usually celebrated during the month of Shravan and Dakshinayana phase - the Southern journey of the Sun. In general flowers, fruits, and different varieties of sweets are offered to the deities and specific mantras are chanted to seek blessings. It is usual to honour Ganesha before the rest of the puja ceremony to please Him and show our gratitude. When this is done on Simha Sankranti, it is known as Appada puja. The Hoovina puja - also celebrated in connection with Vishnumurthy - is celebrated continuously for a month until the Sun transits to Kanya Rashi.
The Simha Sankranti Puja will be performed on Aug 16 by Pandit Arunji- in accordance with Vedic principles under the Guidance of Sri Svamiji.
