Vishwakarma was called the divine carpenter as well as swayambhu, which means self-existent or to be created by one’s own accord. His birth is celebrated in accordance with the Vedic Sanatan Dharma as Svamiji has explained. The festival takes place every year in September or October on the day when the sun god leaves the Simha rashi - Leo -and enters Kanya rashi -Virgo. Therefore the day is also known as Kanya Sankranti Diwas. Any Yagna honouring Vishwakarma enriches virtue and good will: those involved in beautiful building projects or crafts can ask for special blessings and inspiration.
