The festival of Amalaki Ekadashi takes place between Maha Shivratri and Holi. At this time devotees wake up early morning and,after taking bath, perform the various special morning rituals. They offer prayers to Vishnu and the sacred tree of Amalaki - the Indian Gooseberry Tree - by reciting mantras and offering incense, flowers, rice, sandalwood and water to the tree.
