From Gomukh Gangotri to Ganga Sagar at the Bay of Bengal and the Sundarban - Forest of Beauty - at the Indian Ocean, there are several important and significant spiritual places. Uttarkashi, Rishikesh, Hardwar, Pryag, Khasi or Varanasi, Patna and many other smaller Tirthas are along the bank of the Ganga. Rishikesh is the foothill gateway to the Himalaya, where pilgrims gather and embark on the lifetime tirtha spiritual pilgrimage which includes four dhams- Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotry. |
From Hardwar - especially in the month of Shravan - pilgrims (aspirants, seekers, students, devotees, disciples, students etc) take the Holy water of the Ganga at Harkipari. They go all over the subcontinent to visit and worship at the Shiva Temples - particularly during Shravan. They offer the Holy Ganga water to Shiva in His honour. The belief is that this Sadhana will assist to free them from all suffering - physical, emotional and all other types of pain and distress.
Rishikesh is one of the most important places for spiritual seeking, meditation, contemplation, writing, receiving, giving, evolving - and doing great Tapasya and Sadhana at the Holy Bank of the Ganga - seeking the Grace and Blessing of Mother Ganga and High Beings - Mahapurush. |
