At this time of Holi, Sri Svamiji narrates the story of Prahlad, who was a great devotee of Vishnu. His father, demon King Hiranyakashipu was infuriated by his son’s worship of Vishnu. The King forced Prahlad’s sister, Holika, to kill her brother in fire. Holika could not take her dear brother’s life and protected him while she burned in the flames. The festival of Holi is celebrated in her honor. Svamiji speaks of those who have been given the power yet misuse it for selfish means…and that the one who grants the power can also take it away. The perineal power is the only power that counts; all else is temporary. Holi also marks the beginning of Spring, showcasing the beauty of Creation. Svamiji closes with a meditation on Oneness and Unity, Atmic Consciousness, Cosmic Sound and Space: “I am Cosmic Being who is beyond all the darkness, I am with the Light… I will experience that Supreme Love in my heart and will not have any doubt, fear or limitation of mind.” Hari Om Hari Om Hari Om!
